All drivers must meet our insurance requirements and have held a full driving licence for at least 2 years. We’ll ask for some documentation before your hire begins, including your driving licence and proof of address. If you’re unsure whether you meet the requirements, just get in touch before booking and we’ll be happy to check.

No. Our motorhome can be driven on a standard UK car driving licence, subject to meeting our insurer’s requirements.

Yes. Insurance is included as part of your hire for approved drivers who meet our insurer's requirements. We'll confirm your eligibility and complete the necessary checks before your trip, so everything is in place before you set off.

To meet our insurance requirements, all drivers will need to provide a valid photocard driving licence and two recent proofs of address. UK licence holders will also be asked to complete an online DVLA licence check so we can verify their licence and any endorsements.
We’ll confirm exactly what we need from you before your hire, giving you plenty of time to have everything ready.

A £250 deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your chosen dates. The remaining balance is then due 6 weeks before the start of your hire. If you’re booking within 6 weeks of your trip, the full balance will be payable at the time of booking.

Yes. A £1,000 refundable security deposit is required for each hire. This is separate from the cost of your booking and is returned after the motorhome has been checked following your hire, subject to the terms of your rental agreement.

We understand that plans can sometimes change. If you need to amend your booking, please get in touch with us as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to accommodate alternative dates, subject to availability. Cancellations are subject to our booking terms and conditions. -
Wild Thistle is designed for two people, making it ideal for couples, friends or solo travellers. The sleeping area can be arranged as two single beds or converted into a large double.

Absolutely yes! 🐾 We’re dog friendly and know that an adventure isn’t quite the same without your four-legged companion. We simply ask that the motorhome is looked after and returned in a clean and tidy condition.

We want you to be able to arrive, unpack and start enjoying your trip. The motorhome comes equipped with essential cooking utensils, a microwave, kettle, toaster, outdoor chairs, bike rack and a Fiamma wind-out awning.

Bedding and towels aren’t included as standard, giving you the option to bring your own. Alternatively, bedding and towel packs can be added to your booking for a small additional charge, making it easy to arrive, unpack and start enjoying your trip.

Our hires include unlimited mileage, giving you the freedom to explore without watching the miles!

Not at all. We know that for many guests this will be their first motorhome adventure. Our motorhome is compact and easy to handle, making it a great choice for first-time motorhome drivers and comfortable to manoeuvre and park. We’ll also give you a full handover before you leave, showing you how everything works and giving you plenty of time to get comfortable with the vehicle before setting off.

We'll talk you through the motorhome at collection, including the heating, hot water, cooking facilities, electrical system and other equipment. You'll also have information to refer back to during your trip, so you don't have to remember everything from the handover!

Where do I collect & drop off the motorhome?
Our motorhome is collected and returned to Cumbernauld as standard, conveniently located in Central Scotland. We can also offer alternative collection and drop-off arrangements, including airport pick-up, to suit your travel plans. Simply get in touch to discuss your requirements and we’ll be happy to help wherever we can. -
Our standard collection time is from 2pm, and we ask that the motorhome is returned by 11am on your agreed return date.
We understand that travel plans can vary, so earlier collection or later return may be available by prior arrangement. Please get in touch to discuss this with us before the start of your hire, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your requirements.

Yes. We offer free parking for one car for the duration of your hire, making collection and return as easy as possible. The parking area is covered by CCTV; however, vehicles and their contents are left entirely at the owner’s risk, and Wild Thistle Escapes cannot accept responsibility for any loss or damage.

Your motorhome will be provided with a full tank of diesel, ready for your adventure. We simply ask that you return it with a full tank at the end of your hire.

You’re free to explore anywhere within the UK, including taking the motorhome on UK ferry crossings to the islands. At present, our motorhome cannot be taken outside the UK and we do not permit hires for festivals or similar events.
Other than that, the open road is yours to enjoy!

In the unlikely event that you require assistance, your hire includes breakdown, so you'll have support available should you experience a mechanical problem while you're away.
